'Bhai Dooj', festival for brothers

Mathura/ Allahabad, Nov 11 : Hindus in northern India celebrated “Bhai Dooj", a festival for brothers, today. In northern Mathura town in the state of Uttar Pradesh, women and young girls flocked to the banks of holy river Yamuna with their brothers to take a dip in the river and perform rituals.

Rituals also took place in the state"s Allahabad city were women applied vermilion on their brother"s foreheads and prayed for their long life.
