Untouchability still in practice: Commission
Tirupati, Nov 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh SC-ST Commission Chairman Nagarjun today said the social evil of untouchability was still prevailing and two-tumbler system practised in the Andhra-Karnakara borders.
Speaking at a press conference, the Chairman, on a four-day visit to the Chittoor district to review various issues related to the scheduled communities, expressed displeasure over the atrocities.
Officials were instructed to take necessary steps to eradicate the menace and to initiate action against perpetrators.
He said the underprivilged were barred from entering certain temples in the State.
