Jabalpur, Nov 12 (UNI) No teacher can leave the school premises without obtaining permission from a competent authority during duty hours, official sources said.

This direction was given by the Madhya Pradesh Public Instructions Commissioner to all the District Education Officers (DEO) in order to curb the practice of going out of school during working hours on flimsy grounds.

In a recent departmental review meeting by Education Minister Lakshman Singh Gaud, it was informed that academic and sudden inspection revealed some teachers leave school premises during school hours on some pretext.

Mr Gaud had issued directions to curb the practice.

In the order issued to DEOs, it has been asked to ensure that teachers spend their duty hours teaching students and permission be obtained from competent authority if leaving school before time became absolutely necessary.

Besides, no teachers would be allowed to leave school premises for delivering mail to a higher office.

The DEOs will issue directives to 'Jan Shikshak' and block education officers to make alternative arrangements for collecting mails or collect it themselves.
