Mizoram: Students' Union boycott starts


Aizawl, Nov 12: The Mizoram Polytechnic Students' Union has decided to start indefinite boycott of all classes of the institution from today after the state government has failed to pay heed to their charters of demand.

The students have demanded for reduction of hostel admission and college admission fees, filling up of vacant lecturer posts, regular appointment of contractual lecturers and appointment of hostel superintendent and warden.

They also demanded an additional allotment of buses for students and staff of Mizoram Polytechnic and women polytechnic and introduction of optional question for joining of BE class after completion of diploma from the two polytechnics.

Hiking of salary for apprenticeship trainees to the level of at least semi-skilled salaries is also among the demnds.
