Shimla, Nov 12 (UNI) An environmental group today criticised the political parties for not releasing their manifestoes before the Assembly polls, which will be held in two phases on November 14 and December 19.
Rashtria Himalaya Niti Abhiyan Samiti representative Kulbhushan Upmanyu alleged that political parties contesting the tribal polls were not serious about the environment-related problems of the tribal people, and were fighting the election only by blaming each other.
''It is the moral duty to declare their manifesto before the polls. But unfortunately no political party has declared what are their special plans for the tribal people, who are first time casting their votes before the formation of the state government.'' Mr Upmanyu said the Samiti has also written a letter to the Election Commission (EC) to make it mandatory for all political parties to declare their manifesto before filing the nomination papers of its candidates.
''We have urged the Election Commissioner to make election manifesto a legal document,'' he added.
