Opposition walk out from Council on scribes' arrest issue
Hyderabad, Nov 12 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) today staged a walkout from the Legislative Council during Question Hour, protesting against disallowing of their adjournment motion notices on the scribes' arrest in Kurnool district a few days back.
Council Chairman A Chakrapani, while disallowing the motion, told the members that he would discuss the matter with the Home Minister.
However the members did not heed to the advice of the Chairman and demanded immediate discussion on the arrest of the scribes, who reported alleged irregularities in the 'Housing Scheme'.
The members charged that the attack on scribes meant an attack on the freedom of the press and alleged that the government was trying to suppress the voice of the press.
Later, the members entered the House and occupied their seats to discuss another subject.
