Official visits malaria-hit villages

Belgaum, Nov 12 (UNI) Zilla Panchayat CEO Prabhakar today visited malaria affected Hulkatti village of Gokak taluka and initiated immediate steps to check its spread and assured proper treatment.

The official's visit came in the wake of malaria cases being reported from nearly 21 villages in the area.

Speaking to reporters he said the disease had claimed two lives and 2,148 cases were reported.

He said 29 para medical and medical officers were deployed in Gokak, Ramadurg, Savadatti talukas in the district, where malaria cases were identified. These villages would be sanitised and improved under 'Suvarna' Gram Plan.
