Ningol Chakkouba celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 12 (UNI) The Ningol Chakkouba was celebrated in Manipur today.

All married women decked up in their best attires go to their parent's house for a grand feast. In view of the festival the entire market areas of Manipur were packed with people buying gifts and eatables. There was no moving space in the market areas today and the streets were converted into mini shops.

A special fish fair was also organised at Polo ground, Imphal by the State fishery department. The 50 stalls opened at the Polo ground sold more than 41,000 kg of fish.

The Transport department also organised special traffic arrangements. All the women and their children were bestowed with gifts by their parents and brothers.
