Mehbooba visits Kashmir fire victims
Srinagar, Nov 12 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to provide adequate relief to those whose shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Sonamarg on the 434-km Srinagar-Leh highway early today.
She visited Sonamarg to express solidarity with the affected families.
Ms Mufti said for most of the affected families in the area these shops were the only source of income and the state government must provide them adequate assistance for their rehabilitation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Bank must also come forward and give the affected shopkeepers soft loans to enable them reestablish their shops, she added.
Interacting with the affected shopkeepers, the PDP president said their demands would be highlighted at the appropriate level.
