Kozhikode, Nov 12: Stating that India was constantly monitoring the developments in Pakistan, Defence Minister A K Antony today said the country was well prepared to meet any eventuality from across the border. Talking to newspersons here after presenting Ankanam literary award to writer Indu Menon, he said the armed forces have taken every step to protect the borders.

Noting that there was no firing between the Armies of both the countries during the last three years, Mr Antony said that except for sporadic incidents of intrusion by militants, the Indo-Pak border was by and large calm and peaceful.

Describing the recent developments in Pakistan as ''unfortunate'', he said ''we do not want to comment on the issue as it is the internal matter of that country.'' However, he hoped that normalcy would be restored in Pakistan soon.
