Curfew clamped in MP town after communal tension

Indore, Nov 12 (UNI) Curfew was clamped following mob violence in communally-sensitive Sanver town of western Madhya Pradesh this evening as violence escalated with a youth sustaining gunshot wounds to the head amid mounting tension, police said.

''The youth was brought here for treatment,'' Inspector-General of Police Rajendra Kumar said.

Police exercised mild force and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse agitated people belonging to two communities. Tension spiralled following an altercation over a trivial issue after a cycle collided with a person. Earlier in the day, stone-pelting was also reported.

Sanver, about 35 km from here, is going for an assembly byelection on December 12.

Additional police force had been deployed in the area, Mr Kumar added.
