BSP confident of winning polls in HP

Shimla, Nov 12 (UNI) Expressing confidence that the BSP would constitute the next government in Himachal Pradesh, its convenor for Shimla, Solan and Kinnaur, Naresh Chauhan today said the successful replication of ''social engineering'' that brought the party to power in Uttar Pradesh would help it at the hustlings in HP.

Addressing a press conference here, he said party supremo Mayawati would be the star campaigner in the polls, which was likely to bring the party to power.

He said while the Congress had betrayed the faith of people by not keeping the promises made to them, the BJP was facing serious division within the organization.

''The state has witnessed phenomenal price rise, problem of unemployment and large-scale corruption during the successive tenures of both the Congress and the BJP,'' he said.

Successive Congress and the BJP governments had become insensitive towards the basic needs of people and had neglected interests of the state, he said, adding that the people have decided to vote against both the parties.

Mr Chauhan said that the BSP would only give tickets to youth who had a clean image and was capable of winning the elections.

As against a popular perception that the party was not prepared for the polls, it had done its homework and was witnessing a ground swell of support from the masses, he added.
