Bhattal accorded warm welcome as Congress state chief

Patiala, Nov 12 (UNI) President of Punjab Congress Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was accorded a warm welcome when she arrived here today on her maiden visit to the city after assuming the charge of party's top post of the state.

Former minister and MLA from Dakala Lal Singh, who received Bhattal at the outskirts of the city along with Rajinder Singh, Vice President Punjab Youth Congress, said, '' The Congress high command has entrusted Mrs Bhattal with the job of running the Punjab Congress and we would leave no stone unturned to present a united front in the state Congress." Mrs Bhattal was taken in an open jeep in procession led by the motorcycle rally of thousands of youth. On way to here from Chandigarh, she was given warm receptions at Zirakpur, Banur, Rajpura and Bahadurgarh, party sources said.

Banners and hoardings were put up all along the Chandigarh-Patiala road starting from Zirakpur. Gates were also erected at various places en route.
