Bandh supporters assault scribes

Kolkata, Nov 12 (UNI) Bandh supporters severely assaulted three journalists of Bengali daily 'Ajkaal' in Howrah today when they were on way to office during the bandh hours.

The miscreants, who were walking in a procession of the Trinamool Congress, also damaged the vehicle in which they were travelling.

According to police, Mr Sanat Roy, a veteran reporter, was seriously injured while his colleagues, Mr Sankar Sanyal and Ms.

Lopamudra Majumder were also assaulted.

It was alleged that the car in which the scribes were travelling with two other members of the newspaper house, was accosted by the political activists on G T Raod near Panchanantala.

Blows rained on Mr Roy even after he showed his identity card while Ms.Majumder was dragged by her hair and Mr Sanyal was thrashed, police said.
