American corner to celebrate international education week

Patna, Nov 12 (UNI) The newly set up American Corner here, will celebrate the 2007 International Education Week by organising a series of programmes at the Bihar Industries Association on November 13 and 14 in the city.

Promotion of the International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of state and the U.S.

Department of Education to recognise the global exchange environment between the United States and other countries.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the U.S. Department of Education, it is a part of the U.S. government's efforts to promote programmes that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States, sources at the American Corner here today said.

Organised by the American Centre, Kolkata, the two-day programmes is aimed at encouraging the praticipation of all individuals and institutions interested in international education and exchange activities, including schools, colleges, universities, embassies, international organisations, business, associations, and community organisations, the sources added.
