Accidental grenade blast leaves jawan dead, another hurt in J

Jammu, Nov 12 (UNI) An army jawan was killed and another wounded when a grenade exploded accidentally at their place of posting near Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today, Defence Ministry spokesman said.

''Sepoy Bhim Kashyap of 4 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was killed when a grenade, he was carrying, dropped on ground and exploded at 0935 hrs at Saringal near Bhaderwah,'' Defence Spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.

The deceased belonged to Ranchi, Jharkhand, he said.

Meanwhile, local sources told UNI that another unidentified and critically injured soldier was shifted to the hospital.

However, the spokesman said he was not informed about the injury to another soldier in the incident.

UNI
