5 youths drown near Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Nov 12 (UNI) Five youth, all in their early 20s, drowned when they were bathing in a pond at a picnic spot near Jhanzri village on the Dehgam-Bayad Highway here.

According to police, the incident took place yesterday when the youths while bathing in the pond were swept away by the swirling water.

The deceased had been identified as Hashmukh Nanji Dudhia (26), Yatin Mahesh Solanki alias Dinesh (25), Jagdish Bhagwandas Rohite (25), Amit Suresh McWan (20), and Nilesh Arvind Parmar (22).

They were residents of Anand Flats in Bapunagar area of the city.

After the post-mortem, their bodies were handed over to their relatives today.
