Chennai, Nov 11 (UNI) Eight Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) railway stations on the 20-km Chennai Beach-Velachery stretch, will be linked to the bus network of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) as part of efforts to introduce inter-modal transport facilities, according to Minister of State for Railways R Velu.

Talking to reporters after inspecting the Beach-Velachery MRTS line here last evening, he said the eight stations -- Chennai Beach, Chintadripet, Chepauk, Light House, Kotturpuram, Thiruvanmiyur, Taramani and Velachery, would have the facilities to enable access for buses.

Buses could also be operated from the Triplicane station off Marina but the approach road had to be widened, he added.

Mr Velu said several things had to be set right in these stations and some other stations like Perungudi before the inter-modal system could be introduced.
