Meghalay: Lapang to attend AICC meeting

Shillong, Nov 11: Meghalaya Chief Minister and Chairman of the North East Co-ordination Committee (NECC) D D Lapang will attend the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting, scheduled on November 17 at New Delhi, party sources said here today.

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Chief O L Nongtdu will accompany Mr Lapang at the meeting to discuss the political situation in the country vis-a-vis the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state.

The proposed AICC meeting assumed significance in the backdrop of the recent overhaul in the Congress set up. It will be preceded by another meeting of the Congress Working Committee.

MPCC president O L Nongtdu said the proposed meeting would chalk out the party's strategies for the forthcoming elections in Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
