Geelani remains under house arrest for second day in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 11: Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC), remained under house arrest for the second day today in Kashmir.
Official sources said Mr Geelani was put under house arrest as a precautionary measure.
A spokesman of the HC Aiyaz Akbar told the sources that Mr Geelani was not being allowed to leave his Hyderpora house for the second day today.
He said a large number of police personnel have been deployed near the residence of Mr Geelani yesterday morning at 0730 hrs.
Mr Geelani was informed that he has been put under house arrest by a senior police officer, Mr Akbar said Sources said officials had apprehension that Mr Geelani would visit Pattan and Sopore where seven militants and four security personnel were killed, about a dozen jawans injured and 15 houses damaged in two different encounters during the past three days.
