AP Govt to extend Aarogyasri Scheme to 5 more districts

Tirupati, Nov 11 (UNI) Realising the need for providing financial assistance to BPL families in need of treatment for major ailments, the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to extend the Aarogyasri Health Scheme to five more districts from December six, State Medical Education and Health Minister Galla Aruna Kumari said today.

Speaking at an awareness programme on Aarogyasri Scheme, currently being implemented in Mahabunagar, Anantapur and Srikakulam districts, she said that in the second phase, the scheme would be extended to five more districts - Chittoor, East Godavari, West Godavari, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy.

Giving more preference to the health sector, the Government had released Rs 226 crore from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for poor people during the last three years, she claimed.
