UP power consumers to pay more on fixed charge from tomorrow

Lucknow, Nov 10: Power consumers in Uttar Pradesh will have to pay additional tariff from tomorrow following hike in the fixed charge by UP Power Corporation Limited(UPPCL).

Except for the domestic (Light&fan) and private tubewells, consumers of all other categories would have to pay additional Rs 10 as demand/fixed charge per kilowatt per month.

UPPCL sources here today said the new rate would be applicable from tomorrow in the State after the UP Power Regularity Commission(UPPRC) issued notification of the hike on November 3.

On October 4, UPPCL submitted the Annual Revenue Requirement(ARR) to the Commission for which an interim order was issued on October 19.

In its report UPPRC said that out of the total demand of Rs 5121 crore by the UPPCL during the current financial year, Rs 5000 crore would be met through state government's subsidy and loan from the institutions while rest Rs 121 crore would be arranged by hiking the fixed charge of Rs 10 per kilowatt per month, sources said.
