Two more held in forged document case
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 10 (UNI) The city police have taken into custody two more members of a racket allegedly involved in preparing forged documents for obtaining passport, taking the total number of the arrested to 12 now.
City Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal told newspersons here today that the arrested included a couple and two passport office employees.
He said based on a complaint from Regional Passport Office authorities, he had constituted a special team, which had first apprehended a woman applicant from Thanjavur last month.
Subsequently, they arrested five persons, including the passport office employees, he said.
Based on information provided by them, the special team arrested five more persons, including the couple, and sized several forged certificates, a computer, scanner, printer, lamination machine, seals and stamps of government offices used for preparing birth certificates, ration cards, voter ID cards and school transfer certificates.
Three hundered passports were also recovered.
He said preliminary investgations revealed that the arrested were operating through regional passport office here.
