SP MP Atiq Ahmad's immovable assets worth Rs 3.5 cr seized

Allahabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police today seized immovable assets worth Rs 3.5 cr of Samajwadi Party MP Atiq Ahmad, who allegedly threatened the main witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case, here.

The seizure, including shopping malls and bank accounts, were made on the orders of District Magistrate Ashish Goel.

''A Loyal road situated building, having 26 shops and another Ali Tower situated on Civil Lines have been sealed, besides an under construction building on Mahatma Gandhi Marg.'' SP (city) Uday Shankar Jaiswal said.

An empty plot has also been seized in Kasari-Masari, where it is alleged that the MP encroached some part of the land owned by Pushpa Singh, he added.

Besides, four bank accounts -- three in Allahabad Bank at Lookarganj Branch and one in Bank of Baroda at Khuldabad Branch -- have been seized.

SP MP from Phulpur, Atiq, is accused of threatening the main witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.

Pal was killed under the Dhumanganj police station area of Allahabad on January 25, 2005. Atiq's brother Ashraf, a former MLA, is a co-accused.

Atiq's property and house had also been attached before this.
