Three dead, 30 injured in Nandigram firing

Nandigram, Nov 10: Three people were killed and 30 others injured when CPI(M) activists allegedly fired at a procession taken out by the Bhumi Ucchhed Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) supporters here today.

Official sources said while one Sheikh Rezaul (35) was killed at the spot in Samsabad, Shyamali Manna (35) and an unidentified person succumbed to their bullet injuries in Nandigram Hospital this afternoon.

Fifteen persons with bullet injuries have been brought in the Nandigram Hospital and the condition of ten of them was stated to be serious, the sources said.

The authorities were having a tough time in sending the injured people to Tamluk Hospital and SSKM Hospital in Kolkata as all the roads have been blocked allegedly by the CPI(M) supporters.

Meanwhile, police and RAF lathicharged the protestors in front of Nandigram police station while they were protesting against 'police inaction.' Eds: Pick up suitably from CA10, Crime-Nandigram-Firing.
