Kolkata, Nov 10 (UNI) Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu today described as ''unwarranted'' West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi slamming the state administration for ''recapture'' of Nandigram by CPI(M) supporters and averred that the statement would further halt the peace process.

In a statement, Mr Basu categorically stated that the Governor had not done the right thing by passing the remarks at this juncture.

'' Without considering the practical situation, Mr Gandhi has made all those comments. I thought peace consultation will take place involving everyone through the administration, but after this statement, the process will definitely receive a big jolt, '' Mr Basu iterated.

Earlier, the CPI(M) accused the Governor of being partial and crossing his constitutional limit.

'' The Governor has failed to maintain impartiality. His statement has once again out-stepped the Constitutional limit of the highest office of the state, '' CPI(M) State Secretary Biman Basu said.
