Egypt police shoot Eritrean at Israel border

RAFAH, Egypt, Nov 10 (Reuters) Egyptian police shot dead an Eritrean trying to illegally enter Israel overnight, a security source said today.

Police shot Henna Mohammed Mohammed, 24, in the thigh as he tried to cross into Israel south of Refah, disregarding police orders to stop. He later died of his wound, the source said.

Egypt's eastern border is the scene of frequent attempts by Egyptians and foreigners to cross into Israel to smuggle goods or search for work. Police have opened fire at many of the migrants and had previously killed at least on Sudanese, one Eritrean, and one Turk this year.
