4-day Ellora-Ajanta Festival from Nov 23
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 10 (UNI) The four-day Ellora-Ajanta Festival will commence at the historic 17th century Soneri Mahal here from November 23 District collector and festival sub-committee chairman Sanjeev Jaiswal told reporters that the festival would begin with performances by well known ''ghazal'' singer Ghulam Ali and noted fusion artiste Abhijit Pohankar on November 23.
Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Prabhakar Karekar (Hindustani vocalist), Anuradha Pal (Tabla), and French national Devayani who is a Bharat Natyam exponent will be among those performing in the four-day festival.
Other prominent performances include ''Radhika - the Divine Consort'' featuring Sharbani Mukherji, Ajanta Comes Alive by Prerna Deshpande and Garja Maharashtra Maaza, a combination of Marathi folk songs and music, Mr Jaiswal informed.
The region's artists have also been provided an opportunity to perform on the final day of the festival. They include Shirish Nandedkar (vocal), Anuya Deshmukh (Bharat Natyam), Sanjay Joshi, Dhanashree Dev, Rohini Singewar, Mukund Pande (Marathi Natya Sangeet) and Mangesh Borgaonkar (Marathi Sugam Sangeet).
