Three commits suicide in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Nov 8: Three people, including a couple, committed suicide in different parts of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours, police sources today said.

A 35-year old man, Rajesh Kumar, running a primary school in Jiya village of Kullu district, committed suicide by hanging by a rope from the roof of his house on Tuesday night, while his 30-year old wife, Krishna Devi, consumed spirit on hearing about her husband's death.

The sources said the woman died while she was being taken to district government hospital at Kullu.

It was, however, not immediately known as to why the couple committed suicide, the sources said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations are on.

Meanwhile, in another incident of suicide in the state, a 50-year old woman, identified as Pawana, jumped into a river canal in Mandi district of the state.

The sources said a few youth, who noticed the woman jumping into the canal, failed in saving her.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
