Labourer enacts Sholay scene to get back job

Nagpur, Nov 8 (UNI) A 30-year-old contract labourer, who had climbed atop a telecommunication tower at Ballarpur in Chandrapur district yesterday, climbed down today after an assurance that his demand would be fulfilld.

He had climbed the tower yesterday, demanding reinstatement in a factory from where he had been sacked.

The man, identified as Prakash Pawar, climbed down from the tower in the wee hours today, ending nearly 20 hours of drama, official sources told UNI. Pawar climbed down after the local administration gave him an assurance that it would make efforts to help him get back his job, they said.

Pawar had been employed as a contract worker in a paper-mill but was removed from service about a year and a half back on disciplinary grounds. He claims that his removal had been held illegal by a court, but despite this, he was not being reinstated.
