Direct international flights from Srinagar soon: Soz

Srinagar, Nov 8 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today expressed the hope that direct flights from the Srinagar international airport to various destinations in the Gulf such as Dubai and Muscat would start soon.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Haj House here, Prof Soz said he had raised the matter of direct flights from Srinagar to Gulf destinations with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel.

Steps in this regard have been initiated, he added.

Prof Soz described the construction of the state-of-the-art Haj House as a big step of the Congress-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir.

He lauded Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking keen interest in the design and the completion of the project in record time under the double shift work system.
