Byelections in JK and Madhya Pradesh on Dec 12

New Delhi, Nov 8: The Election Commission today announced the schedule for three byelections-- Parliamentary and two assemblies seats-- to Khargone and Sanwer in Madhya Pradesh and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir and fixed December 12 as the date for polling.

The constituencies are (Khargone LS seat in Madhya Pradesh) and assembly seats of Sanwer (MP) and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Election Commission, which would be issuing the formal notification for holding of the byelections on November 16, also enforced the Model Code of Conduct with effect from November 7.

November 23 is the last date for filing of nominations and November 26 for scrutiny. The withdrawal of nomination will take place on November 28.

Counting of votes will begin on December 15 and the election process will be completed by December 18, it said.
