Xi'an offers biz opportunities in sectors

Bangalore, Nov 7: A 13-member high-level delegation from Xi'an, an important economic and information center in west China met BPO industry leaders here and presented opportunities for mutual cooperation in the sector today.

Mr Wang Qiwen, honorary president Xi'an People's Association for friendship with foreign countries, heading the delegation, speaking at the Xi'an-Bangalore service outsourcing conference said Xi'an, the 'base city of service outsourcing in China' offers a lot of business opportunities in various sectors.

He said Xi'an was the leading center for industries, including eduction and science, manufacturing, tourism, finance, communciation and logistics.

Xi'an, declared as ''2007 Chinese outstanding creating city'' at the Chinese City Creativity Forum, had become the ideal destination for investment, living and recreation, he added.

He said the delegation comprising government officials had come to India to improve the communication and cooperation between Xi'an Municipal Government and Indian investors.

He exhorted the Indian investors to enhance cooperation in hi-tech improvement, talents exchange, financial capital flow, service trade and tourism.

Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) President S S Patil, speaking on the occasion said the Indian government has identified more than 160 services specifically for exports apart from IT and BPO sectors.

He said FKCCI would look forward to facilitate a long term and beneficial coordination with the Xi'an People Municipal Government.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the occasion between starting Point Competency Training India Limited and Xi'an Service Outsourcing Development Association, Shaanxi, China to promote competency developmental activities for BPO industry in Xi'an.

Mr Wang Yi, Chairman of the Service Outsourcing Working Committee Council for International Investment Promotion, said Xi'an Municipal government has chalked out a series of policies to implement the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection.
