Rupee hits near-decade peak of 39.16 per USD

Mumbai, Nov 7: The Rupee hit a near-decade peak of 39.16 at its strongest level against American Greenback since March 1998 during early trade today.

The partially convertible Indian currency opened at 39.27/28 per Dollar as compared to its previous close of 39.30/31 per Dollar. It hit the near decade-high in further trade, driven by fresh Dollar sales from exporters in anticipation. But suspected Reserve Bank of India (RBI) intervention knocked Rupee off the peak, dealers said.
