Pro Taliban extremists claim gains in Pak's Swat

Islamabad, Nov 7 (UNI) The pro-Taliban extremists owing allegiance to Mullah Fazlullah claimed control of five tehsils of Swat district in northern Pakistan.

According to claims, extremists took the control of Matta, Khawazakhel, Kabal and Charbagh tehsils and appointed officials who named Ameer and governor. They also seized police stations in Kalam and Madan areas and controlling the area.

Extremists claimed of taking possession government vehicles whereas they have established check posts in Imam Dehri, Chota Kalam, Shakar Darra, Pir Kalay, Barimpul and Charbagh areas.

The Pakistani security forces are battling hard to suppress extreamism in this part of the country, reported Geo TV.

The gem of Pakistan's tourism that once attracted tourists from all over the world with its roads meandering the mountainous region along the River Swat, has become safe heaven for miscreants.
