Ramgarh, Nov 7 (UNI) An unruly mob today set a government office afire and blocked the NH-33 for six hours after jawans of Sikh Regiment Centre(SRC) demolished an under-construction temple at Subhash Chowk in the district in the wee hours.

The temple was under construction at the Sarvajanik Durga Puja Parisar which the SRC alleged as an encroachment on their land.

At about 0100 hrs, the jawans demolished the temple. As soon as the locals came to know about the incident they set the Chhawani Parishad Administrative office on fire.

The people also blocked the National Highway for nearly six hours leading to heavy traffic jam.

However, the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police rushed to the site and brought the crowd under control.

The NH-33 was cleared after the locals were assured of reconstruction of the temple.
