K'taka Governor extends Deepavali greetings
Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur and leaders of various parties today greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Deepavali the festival of lights.
In a message here, the Governor said, ''On the auspicious occasion of Deepavali, the festival of lights, I warmly greet and convey good wishes to all the people of the state,'' He said Deepavali was the time to display our rich and varied culture. The heritage of India through ancient times was a dynamic one which expresses itself in many forms and occasions, he said.
"May Deepavali be a harbinger of happiness, amity, togetherness, all round progress and development," he added.
Leaders of opposition in Karnataka Assembly and Legislative council, Dharam Singh and H K Patil, respectively, Legislative Council chairman Prof B K Chandrashekar, former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader B S Yediyurappa greeted the people on the occasion of the festival of lights.
