EC notice to Hamirpur MC president on Dhumal's picture

Hamirpur, Nov 7 (UNI) The district election officer (DEC) has issued notice to Hamirpur Municipal Committee president following his decision to hang former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal's portrait in his office.

DEC Nandini Gupta, who is also Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner, has issued notice to Deep Kumar on a complaint of the BSP leader Dhani Ram Shukla who said that the putting up of the picture in his office was a violation of the model code of conduct.

However, the Hamirpur MC president has justified his action of hanging the former chief minister's portrait in his office, saying that it was his prerogative to hang the photo of his party leader.

"If Mr Dhumal's picture has to be removed then pictures of former prime minister Indira Gandhi and state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh should also be removed, Mr Kumar said, UNI
