Cargo ship with crew missing: Coast Guard

Kochi, Nov 7 (UNI) A cargo ship with a crew of seven on board was confirmed missing by Coast Guard (CG) here today.

The ship M V Lakshadweep, owned by Lakshadweep Co-operative Marketing Federation, started its voyage from Mangalore Port on November 3 and was supposed to reach Kalpeni Island in Lakshadweep on November 5.

The ship was reported missing by Karvaratti Port Officials to the CG.

Though the CG launched search operations along the ship's route on November 6, they could not trace it, a CG official said.

The search operation was extended to other probable areas the ship could have navigated, the official added.
