A PSI arrested while accepting Rs 10,000 bribe

Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) A Police Sub-Inspector (Law and Order) attached to Victoria Hospital Police Station here was arrested today by the Lokayukta sleuths while accepting bribe for showing official favour.

According to a release, on receiving a complaint from Mr Basavaraj of Kanakapura trap was laid and PSI Narayana was arrested while accepting Rs 10,000 for getting the documents needed for insurance claim.

Mr Basavaraj's wife Mangalamma had met with an accident near Kanakapura on October 8 and she was admitted to Victoria Hospital where she succumbed to injuries.

The arrested demanded Rs 50,000 to help Mr Basavaraj in getting insurance claim by stating that he would get insurance amount of Rs Five lakhs and said he should pay 10 per cent of it and collected Rs 25,000 while handing over the dead body. Subsequently he collected Rs 15,000 and demanded remaining Rs 10,000 to get necessary documents needed for making the claim.
