East Midnapore District Superintendent of Police (SP) said here today that a CPI(M) activist and a Bhumi Ucchhed Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) activist were among those killed in the violence yesterday.
Official reports said those killed were victims of landmine explosion.
Trinamool MLA and BUPC convenor Sisir Adhikary alleged that CPI(M) activists had captured two localities in Nandigram from the Trinamool supporters so far.
Meanwhile, the exchange of fire between the CPI(M) and BUPC activists continued throughout the night and the situation in Nandigram continued to be tense.
