35 kg explosive seized in Kashmir border area
Srinagar, Nov 7 (UNI) Troops today seized a massive haul of arms and ammunition, including 35 kg of explosive material, in north Kashmir's border district of Kupwara, a defence spokesman said.
He said 7 PARA, 160 Territorial Army (Home and Hearth) and the Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation in Shamsu Nar general area, about three km from Gulab, in Machhal sector of Kupwara district following specific information.
The spokesman said the security forces during the search of the area found an underground hideout stocked with large quantities of explosives and other war-like stores.
About 35 kg of explosive material, 80 hand grenades and 50 under barrel launcher grenades were seized from the hideout, he added.
