Sikhs in US appeal to Pak govt

Yuba City, Nov. 6, 2007 : Sikhs living in US appealed to the Pakistani government on Monday to provide security for their counterparts in the wake of imposition of emergency there.

Sikhs are a minority in Pakistan with their roots dating back to the pre-India-Pakistan partition era. Meanwhile US President George W. Bush urged Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Monday to quickly lift a state of emergency, hold elections and quit his military post.
