Two officers caught while accepting bribes
Bangalore, Nov 6 (UNI) Two state government officers were arrested by the Lok Ayukta sleuths after they were caught red handed while accepting bribes for showing official favour in Karnataka today.
A Lok Ayukta press release said Gurunath B Gawari, a Gram Panchayat officer was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 for showing official favour in Bijapur district.
A trap laid after a complaint was received one Appalal Punnu Lamani that the Jalageri Gram Panchayat officer demanded the bribe for issuing handicapped recommendation letter and residential proof certificate to the complaint.
In other incident, Amaraiah, an Office Superintendent, Zilla Parishat, Raichur was caught redhanded for demanding Rs 1000 from Hanumatharaya of Manvi Taluk, Raichur District for granting a license as Class IV contractor.
