Members can speak Chhattisgarhi in Assy
Raipur, Nov 6 (UNI) Arrangements were being made in the Chhattisgarh Assembly to enable members to speak in the local dialect -- Chhattisgarhi, Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey today said.
''The state government has already announced elevating Chhattisgarhi to the status of an official language and a bill is likely to be presented during the next session,'' he told reporters.
The Vidhan Sabha is in the process of making arrangements for translation from Hindi to Chhattisgarhi and vice versa. ''The members can speak in Chhattisgarhi from the next session,'' Mr Pandey added.
Chhattisgarhi is an Indo-Aryan dialect spoken mainly in this state and parts of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh and Orissa.
