CPI(M) worker suffers stab injuries

suffered
stab
injuries
in
an
attack
allegedly
by
a
group
of
RSS-BJP
activists
at
Namath
Mukku,
near
Kadirur,
in
this
district
of
Kerala.
The injured P Pavithran(45) was rushed to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and his condition was stated to be serious, police said.
However, the CPI(M) called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Thalassery, Pinarayi and Mahe areas to protest the killing of one of their workers, M K Sudheerkumar, a car driver at Kavumbagh in Kollassery yesterday.
Northern Inspector General of Police A Hema Chandran, Kannur Superintendent of Police Mathew Policarp and a heavy posse of policemen were camping in the area in view of the tense situation.
All precationary measures were taken to prevent the spread of violence in other areas.
Meanwhile, State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan would reach in the evening from Delhi after attending an International Conference on Federalism.
