Puducherry CM honours Puducherry school girl

Puducherry, Nov 6: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy honoured a girl for bringing glory to the Union Territory by bagging six medals in weightlifting at the recently concluded Asian Games in Jordan.

Mr Rangasamy presented her a shawl and announced that a cash award would be given to the 16-year-old Maheswari.

Maheswari, a Plus One student of the government Kamban higher secondary school, Nettapakkam near here had bagged three gold and three bronze medals in the junior and sub-junior category in weightlifting at the Asian Games.

She showed the medals and certificates to Mr Rangasamy, who blessed her.

Maheswari had already won medals for weightlifting in state and national level competitions.
