No hike in air fares for Hajis

New Delhi, Nov 03, 2007 : The hike in airfares will not affect Indian Haj pilgrims as the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did not agree to any increase in airfares for the Haajis.

The Cabinet Spokesperson and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told media persons that the proposal did not find favour with the Cabinet.The airfares in India are expected shortly to go up with oil companies increasing aviation fuel prices, following the spurt in crude oil prices in international markets.
