I am not a Sufi singer: Kailash Kher

Bhopal, Nov 5 (UNI) Renowned singer Kailash Kher does not considers himself a Sufi singer but feels elated at being recognised as one.

''I consider myself a singer with God's grace. It's a different matter that people feel 'Sufi' touch in my voice,'' Kher, who was here to take part in a cultural programme organised on the occasion of the Foundation Day of Madhya Pradesh, told UNI here.

Replying to a question, he said his singing was nothing less than a boon from God, without whose grace he would not have been able to sing. Only a few people are aware that he is connected with 'Nirguna Upasana' and that he had been in contact with saints of this path since long.

Kher said he was also interested in composing lyrics and music.

He was composing music for some films.

Regarding music reality shows on television channels and controversy over selection of talents on the basis of SMS voting, he said such reality shows provided a stage for musical talents and should not be objected to. One must not cling to the negative element in every thing.
