Aizawl, Nov 5 (UNI) The contractual Post-Graduate (PG) teachers in Mizoram today launched to an indefinite strike from today, despite the state government's warning that their absence from work would be declared as ''unauthorised absence'' and ''break in service''.

Three days after the state government issued the warning, the PG teachers today announced their intention to go ahead with their agitation and alleged that the government had shown an impartial attitude towards the employees.

However, the agitating teachers decided not to abstain from examination-related matters.

The teachers had been demanding regularisation of their posts and revision of recruitment rules for principals and vice-principals of higher secondary schools.

The state government, however, stated that following constraint of funds, all contractual teachers' posts could not be regularised simultaneously.

It also stated that revision of recruitment rules would be done later.
